The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) is committed to providing a healthy environment on all campuses throughout the system. As part of a comprehensive health program designed to promote the safety, health, and well-being of our community, Georgia Tech requires all incoming undergraduate and transfer students to complete AlcoholEdu. Graduate Students are not required to complete AlcoholEdu​. 

If you do not complete this requirement, you will receive a HOLD on your registration for next semester’s classes!

AlcoholEdu is a two-part online educational course about alcohol and other drug safety. AlcoholEdu provides useful, research-based information to help students make healthy decisions and develop healthy lifestyle habits that will last a lifetime. After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • have realistic expectations that influence behavior associated with alcohol
  • recognize and respond to an alcohol-related emergency
  • use low-risk drinking strategies
  • model safer decision-making
  • enjoy their college experience in a positive, responsible way and
  • know Georgia Tech policies, procedures, and campus resources.

First-Year Undergraduate & Transfer Students

Upcoming first-year undergraduate, transfer students, and upcoming graduate students: Completion of Parts 1 & 2 of Alcohol Edu for Undergrads is mandatory. 

To fulfill this mandatory training requirement:

1. Access the course via the portal at this link.  

2. Use your Georgia Tech email address to sign in (e.g., student@gatech.edu) and create a password for your account

December 11, 2023 - Part 1 opens

January 9, 2024 - Complete Part 1

Part 2 opens 30 days after you have completed Part 1.

February 8, 2024 - Complete Part 2

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is required to take these courses?

  • Incoming undergraduate and transfer students are required to take Part 1 and Part 2 of both AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates 
  • Incoming graduate students are required to take Part 1 of Sexual Assault Prevention for Graduate Students.

What if I am an employee taking graduate courses at Georgia Tech?

You are still required to complete Sexual Assault Prevention for Graduate Students as you are considered an incoming graduate student.

What if I completed the course at a different institution?

You must complete the course again using your Georgia Tech credentials. The courses have Georgia Tech specific policy information and campus resources that you need to know.

How long do these courses take?

Part 1 of each course takes approximately 1.5 – 2 hours to complete.
Part 2 of each course takes approximately 30 minutes.

What if I'm having technical difficulties with the course?

Technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Click the “Help” link within the courses to access support. You can also visit the EverFi help page.

What happens if I have a registration hold?

You must complete the requirement to have your hold removed. Your hold will automatically remove with 1 business day after completing the requirement.
